Report Manager

The Report Manager shows all queries and reports in the workbook. The tree structure shows how the output from queries and reports is used by other reports. If for example the output from a query is joined in to another report., that query will show up as a child node to the report.

Defining report outputs

The Place Output/Clear Output options on the context menu allows you to control the report output into Excel. The same can be achieved from within the report editor, but this can often be a quicker option.

  • Click Place Output and select a cell in Excel to place top left corner of the report output at the selected cell.
  • Click Clear Output to disable Excel output of the report.

The report output is placed/removed when the report is next refreshed.

Report Dependencies

When the data from different sources are combined, it creates a relation between reports and queries. This relation can be seen as dependencies, changing one report could affect the output of another report.

By opening a report or query’s context menu, it is possible to press “View Dependencies”. This will highlight all reports that in some way use the output from the selected report or query in a light blue color. This shows how a change in a query or report affect other reports. The pictures below shows how the view changes when dependencies are shown.

Report manager with highlighted dependencies

When the dependencies are highlighted in report manager, a extra dependency view is also visible at the bottom of the window. This view shows a tree where the selected query or report is the root in the tree. The reports that use the output from the query or report are added as child nodes in the tree. The reports in the dependency view are the same reports that are highlighted in the main window.

The reports in the dependency view are also available in the main view but show the relations in reverse order. By opening the context menu for one of the reports in the dependency view, it is possible to press “Highlight”. This will highlight the selected report in the main window with a green color. The pictures below shows how the view changes after the report is highlighted.
