Configuration Parameters

Configuration parameters are values that a node requires before it can determine what regular parameters it requires, or what output it will return.

A typical example is the Run Report node. It requires the reports parameters as input and execute the report, but before it can ask for report parameters, it must "know" what report to run.

Because you drag in a specific report into the workflow, the required report ID is already configured, but if you hover the node and click the "gear" icon, you can select a different report to run. Note how the parameters change when you select a different report.
